A group of diverse people gathered outdoors, with a woman holding a sleeping baby, an older man with his arms crossed, and another woman holding a glass of lemonade with lime. In the background, there are farm fields and a group of people socializing.

Anxiety

Anxiety is the most common mental health condition in Australia.  It impacts up to one-third of women and one-fifth of men at one point in their lives.

Types of Anxiety

  • Generalised anxiety disorder

  • Social anxiety (Social Phobia)

  • Panic disorder

  • Separation anxiety disorder

  • Agoraphobia and other specific phobias.

Disorders such as PTSD and OCD have large anxiety components; however, they are now categorised separately.

I work with people to understand what’s driving their anxiety, why it persists, and to provide information and skills on what can help to shift it.

I draw on evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), DBT-informed skills, and EMDR when anxiety stems from past trauma. These therapies help people:

  • understand the patterns that keep anxiety going

  • develop tools to manage worry, panic, or physical symptoms

  • face avoided situations safely and gradually

  • build confidence and reduce fear

  • strengthen emotional regulation

  • reconnect with meaningful activities and relationships

Everyone experiences anxiety differently, so treatment is tailored to your needs, pace, and goals. My approach is practical, collaborative, and focused on helping you feel clearer and more in control.

If you are supporting a friend or family member, know that anxiety is highly treatable, and early support makes a real difference.
